The battle of the voices is back for another round of competition! And this time, it’s the younger generation battling it out for the coveted Voice trophy and the honor to be named the Voice.
Welcome scrawlrs! I’m Mac and I will be the official recapper for the The Voice Kids Philippines. Before we dive right into the competition coming to your television screens this May, let’s have a little pre-pilot shenanigans.
First, let’s talk about the new main host of the show. Replacing Toni Gonzaga who is currently bound by her Pinoy Big Brother duties, is Luis Manzano, (Minute To Win It, The X-Factor Philippines, MYX).
Hosting experience is one thing that cannot be denied of Manzano. He’s been the voice of several reality competitions in ABS-CBN. Being a VJ for MYX, Luis at least has a certain tie in music that could prove useful (or not) in his interactions with the artists.
Are people tired of Luis Manzano? Probably. Seeing his face across several franchise has irked the netizens, and probably for good measure. Surely, ABS-CBN can come up with a trademark host (as Toni Gonzaga is to Pinoy Big Brother), for each of its reality TV offerings. It makes each show more unique (albeit on the surface) to the next.
An interesting development in the hosting line-up arose on Sunday, 27 April, as supposed social media correspondent Alex Gonzaga was revealed as one of the 18 Pinoy Big Brother All In housemates. How this will all play out is a mystery to me.
I always thought the social media correspondent role to be unnecessary. No big impact here.
Next up, the COACHES.
